What is a Sequence ?

Have you ever thought about how your music playlist actually teaches you an important idea used everywhere?

Well, today we are going to talk about Sequences. A sequence is a list of elements arranged in a specific order, where each element has its own unique position or index.

One perfect example of a sequence is your music playlist. When you listen to it, songs play one by one, or one after another. This happens because your playlist is arranged carefully, and each song has its own place or unique position. So, the first song plays first, the second plays next, and so on.

What can we do with a sequence?

  • Access elements using their position
Imagine I ask, “What is your first song?” You look at your playlist and tell me. Or, “What is the third song?” You check again and answer. Each song has its own position, making it easy to find.

  • Add new elements to the sequence
Suppose there’s a song you love and want to listen to repeatedly. You can add that song to your favorite playlist.

  • Remove elements from the sequence
If there’s a song you no longer want to hear, you can simply remove it from the playlist.

  • Reorder elements in the sequence
You can arrange your playlist however you like — maybe start with slow songs and follow with energetic ones. It’s all up to you. When you reorder the playlist, each song’s position changes, giving it a new unique place in the sequence.

This example connects the abstract idea of sequences to something familiar. It shows that sequences are not just lists. they are organized and flexible.
